Visual Journaling

I'm sure you are aware that I am in need of a new interst!! Not near enough different avenues to keep me occupied!! Before my journaling, beading emerged as a front runner! I will be adding a page with pictures of my past and latest bead projects!!

Okay, so I really don't need one more interest. But alas, it has happened. I took a weekend class at Maureen Carlson's Center for the Arts in Jordan MN (one of my favorite places in the whole wide world) taught by Barb Kobe (another interesting woman to be reckoned with!) And so, I'm off!

I'd like to share some of my first pages from my first journal and I'll try to explain techniques used and what the pages mean to me!

Go to the Visual Journaling Page (click on the page to the right) to see my creations!

Flashback!

PaperDoll Collages!

Guess all those young years playing with paper dolls paid off! I love paper arts and have discovered a new creative way to play with paper.
I've used a variety of papers for the fashions and use newspaper and old encyclopedias for the bodies. It's kind of like bein a sort of fashion designer! I may add some wings to future ones to tie in my love of fairies.
I love the butterflies on this one!
This is the first one I did It's a bigger than the other ones and incorporated some purple to accent the purple wall. Was easier to make a collage to tie in the purple rather than paint the room!
More to come!

Another fairy dress!
This one has almost a fall feel. At the thrift store I found an old wreath coverd with some fairly good quality autumn leaves so I picked it up. I plan on using the colorful leaves as skirts and/or wings. Wish me luck!

I am proud to say my fairy dresses are now being sold at two establishements! Laurel Street Floral Boutique in St Paul on Hamline  http://www.laurelstreetflowers.com/  and The Nook & Cranny in Fairbault! They can also be purchased from me.
I have so  much fun making them I'm delighted I can share them with others.

My blog might have been sitting still...but I haven't been! Thanks to a visit from my sister, a trip to the craft store, a new magazine for a little inspiration, new creations have evolved!!! I started with picture frames from the thrift store (who doesn't like an excuse to go to the thrift store!). With some scrapbook paper, artificial flowers and leaves, trims, and my trusty glue gun fairy dresses began to appear! Here's a picture of the first one. I'll add more pictures and details soon!
